Our Business
SPC is a proud manufacturer of fruit and vegetables, based in the Goulburn Valley Region of Victoria, Australia.
SPC is committed to the important role it plays in the Australian economy and manufacturing industry. We are proud that 90% of our ingredients are grown right here in Australia. As we are unable to source the commercial quantity of some ingredients locally, we also import:
- Pineapples and mangoes from our tropical manufacturing source in Thailand
- Berries from China, Europe, New Zealand and Chile (due to short supply in Australia)
- Beans from Canada (we always look for Australian crops but currently need to buy our navy beans from Canada in order to meet demand). We have established various programs and continue to work with local growers to source local partners that can provide this produce in the future.
We want to see a vibrant and successful food manufacturing industry in Australia, so we work closely with our growers to ensure that our products contain the highest-quality Australian fruit. We also work hard to communicate the importance of paying a little extra for quality Australian products.
Employee Health & Safety
The safety and wellbeing of our people is our top priority. Safety is everyone’s responsibility, so we train our employees in safe work practices so hazards are quickly identified and rectified.
Our SPC Health, Safety and Wellbeing Policy ensures we are working to the highest standards for all employees, suppliers, contractors and visitors, in keeping with our Values.

Diversity & Inclusion
Our employees come from all walks of life, across many cultures and backgrounds. We know that the strength of our brands can only be supported through the strength of our people. We recognise that creating a diverse workforce and building capability and talent is critical to our ongoing success.
In order to ensure we understand those customers, our consumers and the community we know that we must attract, retain and develop a workforce that reflects the markets we operate in, and in turn deliver strong business results and returns to our shareholders.
We know that embracing the inherent differences in our people will result in an inclusive workplace which is an enabler for innovation, effective decision making and ultimately a more engaged and productive workforce.
Our aim is to create a respectful workplace where equal opportunity exists at all phases of the employment lifecycle, regardless of gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and age – and we run various programs and initiatives across the business to ensure we achieve this goal.
Community
Supporting Local Charities
As one of the biggest employers in the Goulburn Valley region, SPC is proud to support the local community and others through our day-to-day business activities as well as a wide range of philanthropic contributions and community programs.
We aspire to create meaningful philanthropic partnerships that help build stronger, happier communities for Australians and their families.
Our four main charitable partners are:
- SPC KidsTown Adventure Playground: an innovative and fun community project located between Shepparton and Mooroopna. We are committed to the long-term support of this great family-friendly initiative and have been the naming rights sponsor since over the past 20 years
- Ganbina: a non-profit organisation based in Shepparton dedicated to empowering young Indigenous people to achieve true social and economic equality. We have supported Ganbina since 2016 by participating in their work experience and workplace mentoring programs and providing financial support for the Year 10 Leadership program.
- Foodbank Australia: a not-for-profit organisation that distributes food and grocery donations to welfare agencies that feed the hungry. We will continue partnering with Foodbank on many programs, including the ‘Shop n Share’ program, which ensures struggling Australians have access to essential key staple foods. We are also committed to donating desperately needed products for disaster relief programs around Australia following natural disasters.
- GV Giving raises money for local charities and healthcare organisations. SPC has been a long-time supporter of GV Giving, providing an ongoing matched Workplace Giving Program.
We also support other initiatives through community grants, sponsorship of sporting teams and instill a culture of giving and volunteering among our employees.
Acknowledgment of the Traditional Owners
SPC respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we live, work and gather.
We acknowledge the Yorta Yorta Peoples of the land which now comprises Greater Shepparton where our business is based, and the traditional owners of the lands across this nation where our SPC products are distributed.
We pay our respects to Elders, both past and present.
Environment Responsibility
As a leading Australian food manufacturer, we have a responsibility to help keep our environment clean. We work collaboratively with industry, government and environmental groups in Australia and other countries where we operate to deliver a positive and lasting environmental legacy.
We focus on:
- Reducing our energy use to minimise our impact on the climate;
- Innovating and minimising our packaging;
- Driving the recycling and reuse of our products while reducing litter;
- Efficiently managing our water use.
We have implemented new technologies and initiatives at our manufacturing plants to reduce our environmental impact through the supply chain and life cycle of our products
Food Safety
We are strongly committed to Australian grown and made food. Our growers produce clean, green and safe ingredients that we manufacture in full compliance with Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ).
Our manufacturing sites in Shepparton and Kyabram are regularly tested and audited against the most stringent food safety and environmental standards in the world.
Our growers must:
- Achieve Freshcare Accreditation from the National On-Farm Assurance Program;
- Test soil, water and fruit each season to guarantee it is free of heavy metals and pesticides;
- Document the use of all pesticides and fertilisers and ensure they are used in line with manufacturer specifications and regulations for each specific fruit type;
- Provide written guarantees that they follow all rules and regulations associated with growing their specific fruits;
- Have Food Safety Management Systems in place;
- Be HACCP
This ensures our Australian grown and made food products are among the cleanest, greenest and safest in the world.
